The origins of The Baytree Centre are community based, dating from the Brixton social unrest of the 1980s. In 1986 the parent charity, The Dawliffe Hall Educational Foundation (DHEF) was approached and asked to take part in youth work with girls on the Moorland Road Estate in Brixton. The needs of the local women were apparent thus started the work of The Baytree Centre.

From its origins to the present day Baytree has successfully met the social and educational needs first identified back in the 1980’s. We have an unbroken 12 year record of attracting the hard to reach members of the community. Baytree’s ethos is rooted in the Christian vision of the person, emphasising the value of work, the dignity of the whole person, the family and the community.
